  • Neil MacRae

    Executive Chairman

    Mr. MacRae is a capital markets professional with 29 years of experience in investor relations, commodities trading and corporate development within the global mining industry. Neil holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and started his career in 1994 with Mitsui & Co. (Canada) Ltd. Over the years, Neil has held various management and investor relations roles with companies such as First Majestic Silver Corp, Sherwood Copper Corp (merged with Capstone in 2008), Farallon Mining Ltd. (sold to Nyrstar in 2011), NovaGold Resources Inc. and Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. Mr. MacRae is currently a director of Mawson Gold Ltd.

    Mr. MacRae over the past 5 years has worked with Mars Investor Relations as a Vice President Corporate Development, and most recently was working with Brixton Metals Corp. as Senior Investor Relations and Corporate Communications from December 2022 to May 2023. Previously Mr. MacRae worked with both Fireweed Metals Ltd as Investor Relations Manager from March 2018 to January 2020 and also Aztec Minerals Corp. from September 2017 to July 2019.

  • Noora Ahola

    President, Chief Executive Officer and Director

    Ms. Ahola is a Forestry Engineer with a Masters Degree of Natural Resources and Landscape Management. She has developed strong experience within the Finnish environmental administration, applying environmental and other land-use legislation for nature protection and other purposes. Her most recent roles have been as Managing Director of Mawson Oy and Interim CEO and Environmental Director of Mawson Gold Ltd., and before that with The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Lapland (ELY-Centre) in the Nature Protection Unit as a project manager for a program based on developing biodiversity and ecological connections between Natura 2000 sites. Ms. Ahola also has years of experience working in the forestry sector. As Environmental Director at Mawson Gold Ltd., Noora set Environmental Policy, and was responsible for permitting, environmental monitoring and management and research plans. She was responsible also for identifying and managing key environmental risks associated with Mawson Gold Ltd.’s projects and for ensuring all ESG factors are effectively addressed and managed. Working closely with local communities and government, Noora managed consultants and ensured that environmental criteria were integrated into the design of exploration projects. She was a key member of the exploration team and responsible for ensuring all ESG requirements were delivered on time and within scope. In September 2019, Ms. Ahola was made Managing Director of Mawson Oy and became responsible for all of Mawson Gold Ltd.’s Finland operations activities.

    Ms. Ahola continues to represent Mawson Oy as a Director in the Lapland Chamber of Commerce and Finnish Mining Association boards. She is also a member of the national Chamber of Commerce delegation. As President, Chief Executive Officer and Director, Ms. Ahola is responsible for developing and executing the Corporation’s short- and long-term goals and for all executive management matters at the Corporation, including the management of staff.

  • Patrick Soares

    Director (Independent)

    Mr. Soares is a Geologist who has been a senior member of management teams of junior exploration and development and mining companies over a 25 year period. Most recently before retiring Mr. Soares was the President and CEO of Foran Mining Ltd., which is developing the McIlvenna Bay Deposit in Saskatchewan and has grown to a Canadian billion dollar market Capitalization. Prior to joining Foran, Mr. Soares was President and CEO of Brett Resources Inc. a Canadian gold developer which during his four year tenure grew in value from a C$50 million market capitalization and was taken over by a senior gold mining Company in 2010 for more than C400 million. He has sat n the board of a number of gold and base metals companies as well as worked in a senior role in others. Nearly all of the Companies in which Mr. Soares has worked with as either a member of management or board member have received takeover or merger offers.

  • Bouke van ’t Riet

    Director

    Mr. van ‘t Riet holds a Master of Engineering degree in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, London. He started his mining career in 1998 in the South African mines and has now been working in the industry over 25 years in various roles. He specializes in mining projects, project evaluation and operational audits. Over the years he has gained experience in most mining methods and has been involved in multi-disciplinary technical studies in base metals, gold and bulk commodities globally. Living in Finland he has also gained specific Finland expertise.

    Most recently he was responsible for the technical management of Anglo American plc’s Sakatti preliminary feasibility study in Finland, where he assisted the Chief Executive Officer with outlining project plans, setting project goals and deadlines, and evaluating performance, all with a strong focus on technical solutions which support environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) requirements.

    Mr. van ‘t Riet’s expertise will play a key role in the Corporation’s plans to evolve the Rajapalot Project from discovery through to resource expansion to potential development. Mr. van ‘t Riet is a member of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), a Fellow of the Southern African Institute for Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME), a past member of the South African Colliery Mine Managers Association (SACMA), and a member of the Finnish Mining Association (Vuorimiesyhdistys).

    As Technical Director, Mr. van ’t Riet is currently the sole member and Chair of the Corporation’s Technical Committee and exercises in that capacity his technical expertise in mining engineering on behalf and for the benefit of the Corporation.

  • Nick DeMare

    CFO

    Mr. DeMare, a chartered professional accountant, has been President of Chase Management Inc. since 1991, providing accounting, management, securities regulatory compliance and corporate secretarial services to private and public-listed companies. Mr. DeMare also serves as an officer and/or director of a number of public-listed companies. Mr. DeMare holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is a member in good standing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
