Mawson ensures a continual assessment of operations to ensure protection of the environment, the community and the health and safety of employees. The Company has adopted a policy and maintains appropriate procedures to ensure that all Company activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, in a culture where the safety of personnel is paramount.
Company recognizes environmental sustainability and respect for cultural and heritage issues as essential requirements for all activities. Procedures are maintained to ensure that the activity of employees and contractors are in accordance with this ethos.
Company understands its responsibilities to various groups and therefore, the company follows industry best practice in negotiations with all stakeholders. Mawson is committed to the Finnish standards for sustainable exploration. The annual sustainability report is available in https://kaivosvastuu.fi/yhtio/tutkimus/ . The report is in Finnish but in the future, from 2024 forward English versions of the annual reports will be provided. The responsibility reporting is based on the TSM standards. TSM provides responsible assessment tools developed for mines, mineral exploration companies, and companies in the project phase. These systems were developed through consensus with representatives from companies and stakeholders such as environmental organizations and reindeer herding cooperatives. The results are reported annually and are verified every three years by an external entity approved by the stakeholder network.
Mawson ensure an appropriate level of contact and negotiation with all stakeholders including for example landowners, reindeer herders, communities, hunting groups and other recreational land users of the area. Company interacts also continuously with the local, regional and national authorities.
The Environmental, Health and Safety Policy has been adopted to affirm Mawson’s commitment to protecting the environment as well as the health and safety of its directors, officers, employees and consultants and the communities in which Mawson conducts its activities. Pursuant to the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy, management will ensure that environmental, health and safety policies, programs, and performance standards are an integral part of our planning and decision-making.
